This life on earth we have is such a gift! I often get overwhelmed when I think about the ways that God has been faithful in my life, that he has blessed me, that he called me into the life of missions, which is such an adventure.
Even though God has given me a free spirit and I love to explore and enjoy life,
I am often still missing something.
I find myself constantly looking towards my next adventure, and missing out on the one im in the middle of. Where will you bring me next God? What will that look like? How will you provide for it? i end up Thinking about the future and missing out on elements of the here and now.
Isn’t that how life is? We always ask each other what are you doing next, what’s the next big thing? These questions are not inherently bad, but they are missing something, they lead us to forget the now and only think on the future.
God puts us in different seasons for different reasons, but what He has been teaching me for a while is this:
whatever season we are in, we are meant to fully embrace, to embrace the laughter, the tears, to dance, to be joyous, and to stop and smell the coffee.
He so desires intimate relationship with us. A huge part, that we so often miss out on is this: within a place of intimate relationship with the Father, comes joy.
Joy means celebrating life, really living and enjoying life, not just surviving.
This past weekend a couple of girls and I rented a car and drove around the Big Island of Hawaii in its entirety. God’s fingerprint is so evident on this island. We saw everything from waterfalls, to volcanic rock fields, to forests, to rolling green hills. We ended the day at Southpoint, the southernmost part in the U.S. (Pictured above). we ended the day taking pictures, and enjoying the amazing scenery.
As we drove around God reminded me. I have a choice: I can look down at my phone, bored and waiting until the next destination rolls around or I can be engaged with the beauty surrounding me.
There is an incredible beauty in life that God created for our enjoyment.
The sad fact is, we often miss out.
We are often too busy thinking about ourselves, our problems or what’s next for us to see the things God has placed right in front of our noses for our enjoyment.
I don’t want to be a person who spends my life rushing, looking to the next thing on my to do list or only thinking about the next season. I want to live each day, smelling the roses, walking hand in hand with Jesus and enjoying my time wherever god has placed me. I want to be someone who sees beauty in the little details, who takes the time to enjoy life.
I will choose to live out this wild freedom that God has given me.
Want to choose this with me?
“I get the invitation every morning,
when I wake up to actually live a life of complete engagement,
a life of whimsy, a life where love does. It doesn’t come in an envelope. It’s ushered in by a sunrise, the sound of a bird,
or the smell of coffee drifting lazily from the kitchen.
It’s the invitation to actually live, to fully participate
in this amazing life for one more day.
Nobody turns down an invitation to the White House,
but I’ve seen plenty of people turn down an invitation to fully live.”
